Prairie Star Lodge Policies
You may request a courtesy hold in order to firm up your retreat plans. If another party inquires about the same time frame that we are holding for you, you will be contacted immediately. You will then have the option to secure your reservation with a $300 deposit, received by check or cash within 7 days of the notification, or you may give up your time frame to the other interested party.
We require a $300 deposit to secure your reservation. Deposits should be received, by check or cash, within 7 days of making your reservation. Deposits will be fully refunded if cancelled within 90 days of arrival, or you may change your reservation to another time frame. If your cancellation is less than 90 days and more than 30 days prior to arrival, we will refund the full amount of your deposit if your time frame can be re-booked by another party or you may transfer your deposit to another time frame. Deposits for cancellations made less than 30 days prior to arrival will be subject to possible forfeiture, at the discretion of Prairie Star Lodge owners, unless your time frame can be re-booked by another party.
We at Prairie Star Lodge are concerned for your safety. Cancellations made at the last minute because of weather related conditions may be applied to a future retreat or may be fully refunded. Last minute weather related refunds will only be given if the National Weather Service has advised against travel anywhere between your home destination and Prairie Star Lodge. We understand that not all retreat attendees live in the same area, so a refund may be granted on an individual basis if a weather related advisory effects only an individual or a part of your group. A group will be still be allowed to keep their retreat plans if only a part of their group can attend and will not be charged if the number of attendees do not match the original reservation commitment.
Final balances (total cost minus deposit) on retreats will be due, by check or cash, within 14 days of arrival. Refunds for cancellations made after final payment has been received will be based on weather related conditions (see above) or at the discretion of Prairie Star Lodge owners.
A 5.5% Wisconsin State Tax will be added to all reservations.
Prairie Star Lodge reserves the right to request a security deposit of $500. A $500 security deposit, in the form of a check or cash may be required upon arrival. The security deposit of the full $500 will be returned within 7-10 business days if there is no damage or missing items from the lodge. Please report any damage, broken items, or items in need of repair immediately during your stay. Charges for damages and/or missing items following your stay will be at the discretion of Prairie Star Lodge owners.
Prairie Star Lodge is a smoke-free facility. Because Prairie Star Lodge is a log cabin wooden facility, smoking is not allowed anywhere on the Prairie Star Lodge property. If there has been a determination that smoking has taken place inside the lodge, it will automatically constitute as damage to the property and your $500 security deposit will be forfeited or, if no security fee was required, you will be billed the amount of $500 which must be paid within 7 days of receipt.
To prevent an accidental fire, please do not leave the indoor gas fireplaces or the outside fire pit unattended. Fire extinguishers are located on every floor in the lodge. Please familiarize yourself with their location and all exit doors in the house upon your arrival.
While we love animals and believe that you have the best behaved pet in the world, it is our policy that no animals of any kind will be allowed at the lodge except certified service animals. Please leave your animals at home.
Please designate one individual from your retreat group to be the liaison between your group and Prairie Star Lodge. This person will be responsible for all communications and payments between your group and Prairie Star Lodge personnel.
Prairie Star Lodge is an adult only creative retreat venue. You must be 25 years old or older to rent the facility. Children are not allowed unless with a parent and will actively participate in the activities of the creative retreat. The minimum age to attend a creative retreat with a parent is age 15 or older.
Please help us keep costs down by turning off lights and fireplaces in rooms that are not occupied. Your cooperation will help us eliminate the need to raise rates in the future.
Please respect our lodge as you would your home by leaving it clean and tidy upon your departure. Please load and run the dishwasher and place used towels and linens in hampers or hang on hooks behind bathroom or bedroom doors. If the lodge is not left in a satisfactory state upon departure, it will automatically constitute as damage to the property and your security deposit will be forfeited, or you may be charged an additional cleaning fee if a security deposit was not collected.
Use of dyes and inks of any kind is prohibited.
Please use spray adhesives outside. There will be cardboard available so as not to damage the outside concrete or furniture. Please contact your Prairie Star Lodge liaison for proper covering materials.
Prairie Star Lodge is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please check for all your belongings before you leave. If it has been discovered that an item has been left behind, please contact Prairie Star Lodge immediately at 773-339-6736 so we can secure the item and return it back to you as soon as possible. Shipping charges for items left behind will be the responsibility of the property’s owner.
There are no lifeguards on duty at Prairie Star Lodge. Swimming and/or hot tub use, along with the use of the sauna, and/or the outside fire pit at Prairie Star Lodge is at your own risk. Prairie Star Lodge will not be held liable for any injuries and/or accidental loss of life caused by the use of these amenities.
Our goal at Prairie Star Lodge is to ensure that you have a safe, relaxing, and positive retreat experience. We are open and available to customize your retreat stay with other optional activities or services (i.e. massages, wine tastings, river tubing/kayaking adventures, etc). Please contact us to discuss your ideas. We will be happy to arrange and/or help assist bringing your ideas to reality. Please keep in mind that Prairie Star Lodge will not be held responsible for injuries and/or accidental loss of life on Prairie Star Lodge property or caused by other customized services not normally offered as part of a retreat experience.
